报告题目:Interdisciplinary Research on Social Media: Status, Problems, and Future
报告摘要:Social media have attracted an increasingly large number of scholars from not only social sciences, but also sciences and engineering. However, relevant research is largely multidisciplinary, rather than cross-disciplinary, as there is limited collaboration across the traditional divide between sciences and social sciences. For example, less than 10% of the studies on Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks involve investigators from both camps. The separation is rooted in long-standing differences in research paradigms and working styles. The differences are, however, also sources of strengths if both sides recognize, respect, and make good use of the complementary values of each other. Such interdisciplinary collaboration will greatly enhance our knowledge of social media and beyond.
